Just Sink

As a kid I had a dream

sinking to the bottom of the pool

my breath slowly surrendered

its spiral of tiny air bubbles

a last breath

of captive air

I am so shocked

What is this silky heaviness

joyfully filling my chest?

I stare up at the surface waters

breaching air

lapping the edges of

another world

knowing my lungs can swim

Do you remember when we could breathe water?

We are sinking

into a Realm

we can barely

remember

Here we find

honor & protection

as we breathe in these

origin fluids

Here we remember

our beginnings

in the womb of creation

Just float now

fingers strumming

the silky heaviness until

it is safe again to

 Rise

to breach the air.
